Custom Mat Cutting and Finishing for Defined Shapes and Edges
Ninghow Mats is Ninghow’s specialized custom mat division. We provide laser cutting, die cutting, custom shaping and computerized stitched-edge finishing for product teams developing mouse pads, desk mats, fitness mats, tool mats and other made-to-spec formats.
Convert a Mat Construction into Its Finished Format
Cutting and finishing turn a selected mat construction into its specified dimensions, outline and edge form. The correct route depends on more than the external shape. Material, layered construction, corners, openings and edge requirements can all affect how the product should be converted.
Produces the specified outline and shape features after the design and construction have been reviewed.
Converts an approved construction into a defined shape using die-cutting equipment.
Custom Shaping
Supports non-standard outlines, corners, contours and product-specific formats.
Computerized Stitched-Edge Finishing
Adds a sewn perimeter when stitched edges are part of the product specification.
Choose the Cutting Route from the Product Specification
Laser cutting and die cutting are different converting routes. Ninghow Mats reviews the proposed material and construction, finished dimensions, shape geometry, edge design and production brief before confirming the process.
Shape Information
Laser-cutting route: Review the supplied outline, corners, openings and repeated design features.
Die-cutting route: Review the defined profile and whether the construction can be converted with a die.
Material and Construction
Laser-cutting route: Confirm suitability for the selected material or layered structure.
Die-cutting route: Confirm suitability for the selected material, dimensions and construction.
Edge Requirement
Laser-cutting route: Assess the cut profile and any later stitched-edge operation.
Die-cutting route: Assess the die-cut profile and any finishing required after cutting.
Decision Point
Laser-cutting route: Confirmed after technical review of the shape and construction.
Die-cutting route: Confirmed after technical review of the shape and construction.
Laser Cutting for Custom Mat Outlines and Features
Ninghow Mats operates four high-speed high-frequency laser cutting machines for laser cut mats and custom shaping. These resources support the conversion of reviewed mat constructions into defined external profiles and design features.
A laser-cutting review should identify the full geometry of the finished product, not only its overall length and width. Useful design information includes:
We assess the supplied drawing or design file against the proposed mat construction. Final suitability, dimensional limits and tolerance requirements are confirmed for the individual project rather than assumed from the drawing.
Finished external dimensions.
The complete shape outline.
Corner forms and curved sections.
Internal openings, notches or special contours.
Repeated features within the shape.
The intended edge construction.
Artwork position when the printed design must align with the cut profile.
Die Cutting for Defined Mat Profiles
Our converting resources include two pneumatic four-column die-cutting machines. Die cutting may be considered for custom-shaped mats and components when the material, dimensions, construction and profile support that route.
The technical review considers the whole product definition. This includes the external shape, special contours, finished dimensions and any later edge operation. The selected material and layered structure are also part of the feasibility decision.
Final process selection is confirmed after review. We do not assign die cutting based only on order quantity or the visual simplicity of a shape. Tooling requirements, shape limits and dimensional expectations need project-specific confirmation.
Plan the Cut Profile and Stitched Edge Together
Computerized stitched-edge finishing is available when a mat design calls for a sewn perimeter. The stitched edge is part of the product construction, so it should be considered when the shape and dimensions are defined rather than added as a separate visual detail at the end.
Edge Path
The complete route followed around the finished perimeter.
Corner Form
The way straight, curved or shaped sections meet.
Finished Dimensions
The required product size after cutting and finishing.
Cut Profile
The relationship between the converted shape and the sewn perimeter.
Artwork Position
The required spacing between printed elements, the cut line and the finished edge.
Coordinate Cutting with Earlier and Later Production Steps
Cutting and finishing sit within a connected production workflow. Shape approval and edge approval affect how a product moves from its selected construction into final inspection and packaging.
Confirm the Shape and Edge Brief.
Define finished dimensions, contours, openings and the required edge construction.
Review the Converting Route.
Assess laser cutting or die cutting against the proposed material and structure.
Prepare Earlier Production Stages.
Complete printing or lamination where these processes are part of the approved construction.
Cut and Shape the Mat.
Convert the material or layered structure to the confirmed profile.
Finish the Edge Where Specified.
Apply computerized stitched-edge finishing when it is included in the design.
Inspect and Package.
Check cutting and edge stitching before the finished product moves to packaging.
Prepare a Shape and Edge Brief for Technical Review
A complete brief helps our team assess the proposed converting route and identify questions before sample or production planning. Send the information that defines the product, its geometry and its finished perimeter.
Ninghow Mats can review custom sizing and shaping as part of a mat development project. The technical review is used to confirm process suitability and identify any dimensions, shape features or edge details that require further definition.
Product type and intended application.
Selected material or proposed layered construction.
Finished length, width and other relevant dimensions.
Shape drawing or design file.
Corner details, internal openings, notches or special contours.
Required edge construction.
Artwork alignment relative to the cut line, where relevant.
Planned order quantity.
Packaging considerations that may affect the finished format.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Laser cutting and die cutting use different converting equipment to create a defined mat profile. Ninghow Mats reviews the material, layered construction, dimensions, shape geometry and edge requirement before recommending a route. Process selection is confirmed for the individual project because the same outline may require a different approach when its construction changes.
Yes. We can review a supplied drawing or design file for custom shaping. The file should define the external outline, finished dimensions, corners, openings and special contours. Material suitability, shape limits and dimensional requirements are then confirmed through technical review.
Computerized stitched-edge finishing is available as a construction option for mouse pads, desk mats and other reviewed mat formats. Feasibility depends on the product dimensions, edge path, corner form, material and layered construction. Project-specific stitch details must be confirmed before production.
Provide the product type, proposed material or construction, finished dimensions, shape drawing, openings or special contours, edge requirement and planned quantity. Include artwork placement if printed elements need to align with the cut profile or stitched perimeter.
Ninghow Mats includes cutting and edge stitching within its quality-control coverage. These areas are checked as part of the production handoff before finished products move to packaging. Inspection requirements that are specific to your drawing or product specification should be identified in the project brief.
